What am I talking about?

Physician Assistants as a group are very closely bonded. It is a relatively small group (~70,000) that has a lot of positive energy reflected upon their chosen profession.
PAs like what they do and are passionate about the choice that they have made to become a physician assistant.
If you want to become a PA you have to fit in with this group, and share their passion for the profession. The way that you achieve this is by fully understanding what it means to be a physician assistant and proudly show your support for the profession.
So Join the AAPA and wear PA apparel.
The AAPA is our national organization that represents us as a group. There are different levels of membership, and even if you haven't taken any steps towards become a PA yet, this can be your first. You can join the AAPA as an affilliate member.
Why do this? What does it entitle you to?
There are two great reasons for joining the AAPA as soon as possible.
First, as a member you will have access and the ability to attain an abundance of information on the profession from the premier source on this information.
Second, you will be expressing your interest and dedication in the proffession and your desire to become a PA. When applying to PA programs you will be able to list as part of your application that you have been an affilate member of the American Association of Physician Assistants since (date of initial membership). This is an extraordinary feature that may set you apart from other applicants.
As an added benefit you will also receive two publications for Physician Assistants.

- News article magazine dealing with much of the profession's concerns, and features articles on practicing PAs.

- A professional medical journal
This journal may not help too much in providing information that you
can use in order to get into PA school, but it may be interesting
nonetheless.
