The NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) is responsible for issuing the PANCE (Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination).
Once you complete your PA program you must first pass this test prior to practicing as a Physician Assistant.
There are a number of review courses and review books to help you prepare for this examination. It may be best to obtain some of these books early in your training so that you have adequate time to learn the material that you will be tested on, in addition to the material your PA program believes you should know to be a good practitioner.
